Even with all the latest actresses eyed and named as potential stars for the role of Anastasia Steele, not one of them has managed to beat the strongest contender for the role. "Gilmore Girls" star, Alexis Bledel is still a strong favourite for the role of Anastasia Steele.

Finding a director for the film may have been over and done but that doesn't mean the work is cut out yet. Universal Studios and Focus Features is taking quite long in announcing an official cast let alone start auditions for the lead roles. A lot of speculation continues around whom among Hollywood's hottest and most talented would be dubbed Christian Grey and Anastasia Steele.

For now, fans have taken on the responsibility of naming potential stars for the lead roles. As of late, leading the web polls for the role of Christian Grey is "Vampire Diaries" Ian Somerhalder. Matt Bomer and Henry Cavill follow a few numbers after.

On the other hand, the fan favourites for the role of Anastasia Steele change each day. A while back, Mila Kunis along with Emma Watson, both who had expressed disinterest in the role, were named the strongest contenders. However, a few other polls claim otherwise.

Alexis Bledel was a strong contender back in 2012 and she continues to be even now. Along with "Game of Thrones" Emila Clarke, Alexis Bledel is considered the next best star to play Anastasia Steele. Online bets have even begun stating Bledel would definitely be cast in the "Fifty Shades of Grey" film adaptation.

"We've seen a ton of money on Alexis Bledel and it's clear punters fancy her for the role - we'll be facing a spanking payout if she's tied down for the role," claims a spokesperson to Paddy Power.com

Judging from Bledel's impressive fan base, fans are certainly rooting for this brunette beauty to snag the most iconic role. Hopefully, E.L. James considers Alexis for the role and not simply picks an unknown actress like she did for the director.
