Months of waiting and finally the production studio behind the film adaptation of "Fifty Shades of Grey" has announced the news of a casting call. Director Sam Taylor Johnson is now in search of actors for the lead roles of Christian Grey and Anastasia Steele. Here's all there is to know about everything "Fifty Shades."

Universal Studios and Focus Features had officially earned the rights to producing the film adaptation of E.L. James best-selling erotica novel, "Fifty Shades of Grey." Since late 2012, fans of the S&M novel have been hooked on casting news and finally an update has been announced.

Casting calls are going out for the lead roles of Christian Grey and Anastasia Steele. In a report by Inquisitr.com, the casting director has reviewed submissions sent out by agents and have also opened up casting to the general public in the hopes of finding the perfect Christian and Ana. The announcement was made by Director Sam Taylor-Johnson and Producer Michael De Luca.

According to the post, Luca is looking for women aged 20 to 25 to play the role of Ana while men of the age 25 to 33 are considered for the role of Christian. With the film set for a release on August 24, 2014, an official cast should be announced anytime this week. Rumours did point out that filming would begin by the Fall which means the casting call could have not come at an opportune moment.

Obviously, the casting call was announced a day after E.L. James had left Los Angeles following her extended stay at the area. Speculation claimed the extended visit was connected to potential stars for the cast. Of course, James has been nothing but mum about the rumours.

For now, all fans can do is sit back and wait. Yet, some continue to name suitable stars for the lead parts. To date, Ian Somerhalder of "The Vampire Diaries" and Garrett Hedlund of "On the Road" are officially out of the running for the part of Christian. Matt Bomer and Henry Cavill are two of the strongest contenders up for the role. On the other hand, Alexis Bledel and Emilia Clarke are the top fan choices for the part of Anastasia Steele.
