'Fifty Shades of Grey' Movie Casting: Ian Somerhalder as Christian Grey and Kristen Stewart as Anastasia Steele [PHOTOS & VIDEO]
"Vampire Diaries" star, Ian Somerhalder is obviously a strong favourite for the role of Christian Grey in the upcoming film adaptation of "Fifty Shades of Grey." While some fans have paired Ian off with onscreen love interest Nina Dobrev for the role of Ana, a few have found "Twilight's" Kristen Stewart as a potential onscreen pair for Ian Somerhalder in the "Fifty Shades" film.
Universal Studios and Focus Features are yet to announce an official cast for "Fifty Shades of Grey." While Sam Taylor-Johnson is fresh from the get-go to direct the film, scriptwriter Kelly Marcel is busy adding final touches to the script. With an obvious amount of work needed done, casting is certainly far off schedule.
Of course, leave it to overzealous fans of the BDSM-themed book series to come up with their own cast options. To date, numerous web polls mentioning over a hundred suitable stars have been up on the web since the announcement of the film adaptation back in 2012.
The strongest contender for the role of Christian Grey is none other than "Vampire Diaries" star, Ian Somerhalder. A few other fan favourites include "Twilight's" Robert Pattinson, "White Collar" Matt Bomer and "Man of Steel" Henry Cavill.
Somerhalder has constantly been paired off with favourites for the role of Anastasia Steele namely Alexis Bledel, Melissa Benoist, Emilia Clarke and Lucy Hale. Yet, there is one pairing that is definitely getting the attention of a few "Fifty" fans. The "Vampire Diaries" star is said to be a perfect match for "Twilight's" Kristen Stewart.
With Stewart's no-nonsense look and sultry vibe, the "Twilight" actress could surely pull off the role of Ana. As for the pairing between Kristen and Ian, could there be chemistry for them onscreen if they do manage to nab the lead roles of Ana and Christian respectively?
