Fans of E.L. James best-selling erotica novel, "Fifty Shades of Grey" are clearly desperate for casting news. Since the announcement that the film adaptation would be released by summer of 2014, a cast had not been officially broadcast let alone a casting call begun. However, Ian Somerhalder might have just nabbed the lead role from under fans' noses.

Universal Studios and Focus Features obviously have a lot on their hand. Currently, the production studios spearheaded for the film adaptation of "Fifty Shades of Grey" still have not found a suitable director. Scriptwriter, Kelly Marcel is also working on the films' script. Given the time the film adaptation was announced to today, fans have waited quite long for a cast.

Still, E.L. James or the production studios have not said word about the film. This has prompted fans of "Fifty Shades of Grey" to come up with their own casting. To date, countless web polls fill one corner of the web to the next. Hundreds of Hollywood celebrities have been named as potential stars for the lead roles of Christian Grey and Anastasia Steele.

In the lead for the role of Anastasia Steele is Emilia Clarke of "Game of Thrones." Following close to Clarke is Alexis Bledel of "Gilmore Girls" and Allison Williams of "Girls." Other favourites include "Vampire Diaries" star, Nina Dobrev and "Pretty Little Liars" star, Lucy Hale.

Another "Vampire Diaries" star that made it to the favourites for the role of Christian Grey is Ian Somerhalder. In fact, Ian has constantly topped web polls for the role of the 27-year old entrepreneur. Even author E.L. James had admitted to finding Somerhalder a perfect choice for the role. Does this mean Somerhalder just might be cast as Grey?

With the latest tweet by the "Vampire Diaries" star, fans are pointing out that Ian could have already been cast for the film. Ian's latest mysterious tweet is as follows.

"5:41AM- bye-bye beautiful Barcelona- back to LA to break down the new movie with the one and only Ivana Chubbuck (my acting coach and guru)," stated Ian.

For starters, this is the first time Ian has been vague about his tweets making fans wonder wildly if he'd already been cast as Christian Grey in "Fifty Shades of Grey." Of course, fans of the fandom can only wait, hope and see that Ian indeed managed to nab the role.
