'Fifty Shades of Grey' Movie Casting: Nina Dobrev as Anastasia Steele [PHOTOS]
Ian Somerhalder might have a chance at being cast as Christian Grey in the highly -acclaimed film adaptation of "Fifty Shades of Grey." The big question on everybody else's mind is who would play alongside the brooding actor? Some fans of the "Vampire Diaries" series say Nina Dobrev should be Anastasia Steele. However, does Nina fit the description of Ana?
Fans of "Fifty" are desperate for news of casting. With a director's seat still not filled out, casting is still far off schedule. As for Hollywood stars set to play the role of Anastasia Steele and Christian Grey, the list of potential stars is quite long.
Matt Bomer of "White Collar" is leading the pack for possible actors set to play Christian Grey. As for Anastasia Steele, Alexis Bledel of "Gilmore Girls" is a fan favourite. However, there is another name in the business that is up for the role of the 22-year old college student, Ana.
"The Vampire Diaries" star, Nina Dobrev is currently the centre of attention for the role of Ana. Given Nina has the looks, the appropriate age and skill, Dobrev just could be the Ana Universal Studios may be looking for. In an interview last October, Dobrev opened up on the racy role.
"I depends on the script, always. If it's a good script, and a great director, then who knows," explained Dobrev to Wet Paint.
While fans insist a pairing between Dobrev and Somerhalder for "Fifty" would be great, Nina says otherwise.
"I don't know if that's a good idea. I think it's best for any of the actors on Vampire Diaries to kind of do their own things ... and create new characters. And as much as you try when you shoot a movie, if it's two of the same people, the fans will always see you as ... they'll see you as Elena and they'll see him as Damon if we do the film together," stated Nina in an interview with The Celebrity Café.
If Nina does manage to nab the role, Ian Somerhalder is unlikely to be playing Christian Grey opposite her. See more of Nina Dobrev by clicking on the slideshow.
