August has officially set in but still no word from Universal Studios and Focus Features about a cast for the film adaptation of "Fifty Shades of Grey." Casting speculation continues online with one name dropped to the next for the iconic roles of Anastasia Steele and Kate Kavanagh. Making things easy, here are a few real life BFFs that could pull off the role of Ana and Kate for the BDSM-themed film.

E.L. James best-selling erotica novel, "Fifty Shades of Grey," is still pretty much hyped about. With the film adaptation set to hit theatres by August 2014, fans were nothing but crazy about casting rumours. Ian Somerhalder of "The Vampire Diaries," who had long been a strong contender for the part, dropped out of the running recently. Now, Matt Bomer and Henry Cavill remained the two strongest contenders for the role of Christian Grey.

As for the part of Anastasia Steele, countless actresses were also up to plate for the part. The same goes for Ana's best friend and roommate, Kate Kavanagh. While Emilia Clarke and Alexis Bledel may be the current favourites for the part, "Gossip Girl" stars Blake Lively and Leighton Meester were strong candidates for the role of Kate and Ana, respectively.
