'Fifty Shades of Grey' Movie Casting: 'White Collar's' Matt Bomer Happy Charlie Hunnam Got Cast as Christian Grey? [PHOTOS]
Despite having lost the coveted role of Christian Grey in "Fifty Shades of Grey" to Charlie Hunnam, "White Collar" star Matt Bomer is anything but bitter about it. In fact, in light of events and fan drama Matt Bomer is "happy" for Charlie nabbing the part in the highly anticipated film adaptation. What else did Bomer have to say?
"White Collar" star Matt Bomer has long been a favourite by "Fifty Shades" fans for the part of Christian Grey. Aside from the obvious good looks, Matt has the proclivity for sexy and jaw-dropping roles. Who could ever forget Matt's strip tease and dance for "Magic Mike?"
This and other reasons have caused fans to demand that Matt Bomer be cast as Christian Grey in the film adaptation for E.L. James erotica novels. However, producers and James failed to give Bomer a shot at the role. Early this week, James made the announcement via Twitter that Charlie Hunnam of "Sons of Anarchy" has officially signed on for the part of Christian.
Obviously, fans were the least bit pleased with the choices. A petition to change the cast to that of Matt Bomer has already triggered online. From 18,000 thousand signatures the petition now has 40,000 people and counting demanding that Bomer replace Hunnam as Christian Grey.
"Matt Bomer is the PERFECT DESCRIPTION OF CHRISTIAN GREY AND ALEXIS BLEDEL IS THE PERFECT ACTRESS TO REPRESENT ANASTASIA STEELE and if THEY ARE NOT, NOBODY WILL BE...So please PLEASE, all of the GREYsessed and Bomerettes in the world NEED those actors. They always will be for us the Christian Grey and Anastasia Steele. WE CAN DO ANYTHING GUYS, ANYTHING," stated the petition on Change.org.
Yet, would the petition even bear fruit if the star eyed for the part is anything but willing to fight for the part? In a recent interview by E! Online for the premiere of "White Collar's" fifth season, Matt Bomer opens up about the casting.
"I'm so grateful for the fans and touched. I'm looking forward to seeing the movie with Charlie and Dakota," stated Bomer.
Judging from what Matt had to say, it appears he is genuinely happy Charlie Hunnam nabbed the iconic part. Fans will simply have to live with the fact that Charlie Hunnam will star as Christian Grey in the film adaptation for "Fifty Shades of Grey." In the words of Christian Grey: "Laters Baby."
