Fifty Shades of Grey Movie: Chris Hemsworth is the Frontrunner for Christian Grey Role
In several "Fifty Shades of Grey" movie web site polls, the name Chris Hemsworth is currently the frontrunner for the famous role of Christian Grey. The 29-year-old Australian actor beat out other possible actors on the list of who could perfectly portray the mysterious billionaire.
The "Fifty Shades of Grey" enthusiasts' online survey placed Chris Hemsworth at the top of the list. With that, the "Thor" actor pushed aside the other strong contenders such as Alexander Skarsgaard, Ian Somerhalder, Matt Bomer, Henry Cavill, Channing Tatum and Ryan Gosling.
Chris Hemsworth has numerous movie projects under his belt since rising to fame. In the upcoming movie "Rush," his portrayal of F1 driver James Hunt in the film reportedly grabbed the attention of the movie producers.
There will definitely be a lot of sex scenes in the "Fifty Shades of Grey" on-screen adaptation. However, Chris Hemsworth stated his uncertainty in portraying the dark character of Christian Grey during an interview last May 2012.
Age is another factor considered as to why Chris Hemsworth is fit to portray Christian Grey. The handsome billionaire is 27 years old in the erotic novels when he met Anastasia Steele. Filmmakers might then feel the pressure in picking an older actor to portray the character since "Fifty Shades of Grey" is reported to be released in 2015.
According to Wetpaint, fan favorite Matt Bomer is no longer considered to become Christian Grey in the much anticipated "Fifty Shades of Grey" film because of his age. "The Vampire Diaries" actor Ian Somerhalder's age also becomes questionable but author E.L. James thinks that the age 34 or 35 is not really too old to portray the character.
Movie viewers might not mind the age of the actors and actresses with regards to the characters they are portraying whether it is younger or older. However, filmmakers of "Fifty Shades of Grey" should inform their fans about their plans if they opt to cast an actor with the age below 30 because there is a possibility of a hostile reception if their favorites are not chosen like Matt Bomer and Ian Somerhalder.
