The highly-anticipated film adaptation of E.L. James best-selling erotica novel gets a release date. "Fifty Shades of Grey" is set to debut in cinemas nationwide by August 1, 2014. Does this mean an official cast has already been laid out by Director Sam Taylor-Johnson?
Fans of "Fifty Shades" will finally get a view of the Red Room of Pain. With Sam Taylor-Johnson officially on board to direct the film, everything is bound to go smoothly from the beginning of July onwards. Universal Studios and Focus Features are set to produce the film for an August 2014 release.
The BDSM-themed film is slowly but surely being pieced together. However, a cast is yet to be announced. For one, fans have continued speculating about Hollywood stars set to be cast in the film. With only a year away before the films' debut, the hype and anticipation are growing higher than ever.
As of late, Robert Pattinson and Ian Somerhalder have been dubbed as the strongest contenders for the role of Christian Grey given their unlikely connections to E.L. James. James' mysterious tweets over the months of April to June had made fans speculate she was in scenes being shot with Ian Somerhalder cast as Grey. The author was also spotted at Pattinson's house party a few days back causing fans to speculate that Robert had already been cast as Christian.
On the other hand, the favourites for the role of Anastasia Steele are changing each day. Last week, "Glee's" Melissa Benoist was in a strong fight against former Disney star, Selena Gomez for the role. Now, returning favourites namely Mila Kunis and Alexis Bledel have been competing for the top spot on countless web polls.
With the film slated for an August 2014 release, the official cast announcement should probably be around the end of June or beginning of July.
