It's not easy to win when you have famous artists like Miley Cyrus, Demi Lovato, Justin Bieber and Psy competing against you, but the Girls' Generation did it. Ever since the Korean girl band bagged the "Video of the Year" award at the 2013 YouTube Music Awards, the curiosity to know about the girl band is on a sky high. So let's find out more about them.

Formed in 2007, the band consists of nine beautiful girl members Taeyeon, Jessica, Sunny, Tiffany, Hyoyeon, Yuri, Sooyoung, Yoona and Seohyun. In Japan, they are known as Shoujo Jidai. The girls came to news when they kicked off their careers with songs such as "Into the New World" and "Kissing You" but their popularity started with their hit single "Gee" in 2009, which was named South Korea's "Song of the Decade."

Their success began with follow-up singles "Tell Me Your Wish", "Run Devil Run", and "Oh!" from late 2009 to early 2010. They also stormed the Japanese music scene with Japanese remakes of their 2009 Korean hits "Genie" and "Gee."

The group's debut Japanese album "Girls' Generation" is currently the highest selling album in Japan by a Korean group since 2011 and was awarded a "Million" by the Recording Industry Association of Japan.

Girls' Generation bagged the best video award for their video "I Got a Boy," which is the lead single from their fourth Korean-language album by the same name. The title track, "I Got a Boy" was released digitally in January this year and has been getting mixed reviews on YouTube with some fans liking their music and others criticizing them for their win.

"Yes, they are one of the best female groups in the world ..got a problem with that ?," writes a fan of Noreen Andal.

"Reigning girl group in the world"? Trust me, the world doesn't know that one yet LOL! Whatever dude, I am happy for them and their immense tribulations, ok? They won some how or another. Can't wait to see them at the Grammys though," writes another critic rossatron353 on their music video page.

Girls' Generation are also set to release their third Japanese album on December 11. The album will drop in four different editions and is expected to feature group's singles, "Love & Girls" and "Galaxy Supernova," both of which reached the top of the charts in their country. With the new win as "Music Video of the Year," we are hoping that the sales of their upcoming album will be benefited.
