‘Finding Dory’ Movie Spoilers: New trailer sparks LGBT hope [Watch Video]
Less than a month before the release date, Pixar released the latest “Finding Dory” movie trailer that hints the possibility of the first lesbian couple in a Disney animated film.
Fans of its prequel “Finding Nemo” pointed out the one-second preview of what may be the reason why the rating of Pixar’s “Finding Dory” was raised to PG. The alleged lesbian couple was enjoying a walk in the park but stopped to pick up a baby bottle that Hank (Ed O’Neill) dropped when he fell out of the stroller.

The fact that the Ellen Show posted it in their YouTube account only fuelled fan speculations. Out of all the recent spoilers that were released, this “Finding Dory” movie trailer seems to top them all. Fans have been clamouring for lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender representations in animated films. When Disney announced Frozen 2, fans created a hashtag dedicated to letting the makers know that they want Queen Elsa (Idina Menzel) to have a girlfriend, according to USA Today.
Days after it was released, fans are still discussing the “Finding Dory” movie trailer. While some of them are convinced that this is indeed Pixar’s first ever lesbian couple, others insist that there’s not enough information to reach a conclusion. The possibility of LGBT characters in a children’s movie also caused some people to boycott Disney. In response, some fans reminded them that Dory is played by famous lesbian and talk show host Ellen DeGeneres.
Whether or not the LGBT community found a place in animated films, fans are now eagerly anticipating the release date.
Pixar’s “Finding Dory” will be telling the story of the blue tang fish Dory, who is suffering from short-term memory loss, and the journey she embarks on to find her family.
The release date in Australia of “Finding Dory” is on June 17.
