Tech Web sites are speculating that Nokia would soon release its first Android smartphone at the MCW in March. The device, long the subject of rumours among techies, is said to be named Nokia Normandy.
Mobile.sulekha.com cited the latest leaks that the home screen of Normandy would appear to be very similar to Windows Tiles based on the alleged images. The portal even added that chances are the Finnish tech firm, about to become part of Microsoft, would be included in the Lumia family and possibly be renamed Lumia Normandy.
Bits and pieces of the Normandy has been leaked from time to time such as its design, lock screen, UI, call menu and home screen.
The model is expected to complement the Asha devices of Nokia that were geared for the affordable market, but would still be a game changer for the Finnish company that used to rule the mobile phone industry.
Among the rumoured specs of the Normandy are a 4-inch FWVGA screen with 480x854 resolution, Android 4.4 Kitkat OS, Quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon chipset processor with 1GB RAM and 4GB memory that could be expanded to 32GH through microSDcard, 5MP rear and VGA front-facing camera, and 2100 mAh battery.
Given these specs, observers said it would still be an entry-level device due to its lack of a camera flash and Google Play services, but budget-friendly.
