Five Galaxy Devices Confirmed to Get Android 5.0 Key Lime Pie: Galaxy S4, Galaxy S3, Galaxy Note 2, Galaxy Note 8.0 & Galaxy Note 10.1.
Samsung confirmed five devices from the Galaxy line to immediately get Android 5.0 Key Lime Pie updates according to insider's information. The five are the Galaxy S3, Galaxy S4, Galaxy Note 2, Galaxy Note 8.0 and Galaxy Note 10.1.
Android 4.2.2 Release Delays
It appears that the official Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean update from Samsung is having another delay due to Galaxy S4 sales, and it directly affected several devices such as Galaxy S3 and Galaxy Note 2. Disappointing sales result of S4 pushed the update in October or November 2013.
Android 4.3 also made Samsung focus on the current flagship to boost market share influences, leaving Android 4.2.2 update for S3 and Note 2 at bay. However, an insider confirmed a list of several Galaxy smartphones and tablets certain to receive Android 4.2.2, Android 4.3 and Android 5.0 software upgrades.
Information Leaked of Qualified Devices
According to SamMobile, an insider from Samsung confirms five Galaxy devices to receive Android 5.0 soon after its launch. It includes the previous flagship smartphone Galaxy S3, 2013 flagship Galaxy S4, Galaxy Note 2, Galaxy Note 8.0 and Galaxy Note 10.1. All of these devices are qualified in terms of RAM and CPU to handle the latest Android OS with all-new TouchWiz UI.
Other devices such as Galaxy S I, S II, Note I, Galaxy Grand, Grand DUOS, S III Mini and many more are expected to end with Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean. No definitive details yet if any of them will have Android 4.3 in the future.
Google hasn't yet official announced any confirmation that these devices will receive Android 5.0 but selected smartphones and tablets released in 2012 and 2013 are speculated to be qualified to get the major software update especially with the company's plan of full optimisation in solving Android iteration issues.
Android 4.3 Jelly Bean is now out to manufacturers for testing and Android 5.0 Key Lime Pie is expected in October 2013.
