'The Flash' movie to be rewritten from scratch while waiting for new director
"The Flash" movie had been originally planned for a 2018 release
As the whole world waits for “Justice League” to come out later this year, some fans are more excited for the DC cinematic universe to unfold. While each Justice League member is bound to get a movie, some reports say that fans might have to wait a little longer before they see their favourite speedster star in his own film. If the latest news is true, it looks like there are no chances at all of seeing the Flash in his own movie in 2018.
The upcoming project, in which Ezra Miller is to star, has been left in limbo since it lost its director, Rick Famuyiwa. There are few details how this had actually happened, but reports say that creative differences got in the way of working harmoniously. Famuyiwa had penned the screenplay’s latest draft with the help of Seth Grahame-Smith.
While the project remains hanging, Warner Brothers has tapped Joby Harold to do a page-one rewrite to the script of “The Flash.” The company’s executives appear to be taking their time in finding Famuyiwa’s replacement as Ezra Miller, who will star in the titular role, also gets ready for another big project: “Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them 2.” Miller appeared on the first “Fantastic Beasts” movie as Credence.
Fortunately, Harold is no stranger to the studio as he had some projects with them before. His most recent project was “King Arthur: Legend of the Sword” while others that are currently in development include a “Twilight Zone” film and a “Robin Hood” film for the studio, reports Variety.
What Warner Brothers really wants viewers of “The Flash” to see is still a mystery. As of now, the cast commitments include Ezra Miller (Barry Allen), Kersey Clemons (Iris), Ray Fisher (Victor Stone or Cyborg) and Billy Crudup (Henry).
Of course, the “The Flash” movie will still be released, although a 2018 release slot might no longer be feasible. However, without a director working right now and with no screenplay in place yet, it looks like a 2019 release is very likely for this upcoming film. For now, fans can expect to see the scarlet speedster on the “Justice League” movie, which also features Batman (Ben Affleck), Wonder Woman (Gal Gadot), Aquaman (Jason Momoa) and Superman (Henry Cavill). The film will be released November 2017.
