'The Flash' season 2 episode 16 recap: A new female speedster is on the loose; Zoom resurfaces
In Season 2 Episode 16 of “The Flash,” a new speedster surfaced in Central City -- who turned out to be female. Iris thought about mixing work with leisure, while Harry had a loss. There was also a huge revelation in the episode, titled “Trajectory.”
[Spoiler alert]
The episode started with Barry (Grant Gustin) training to further boost his speed, but failed on the initial attempt. The group decided to unwind a little by spending a night in town. Barry, Cisco (Carlos Valdez), Caitlin (Danielle Panabaker) and Jesse (Violett Beane) headed to a night club to meet Iris (Candice Patton) and Wally (Keiynan Lonsdale). Iris and Barry hung out at the place, with the former pondering over how both of them are married in the future and on Earth-2. However, their supposedly fun night was immediately interrupted by a new speedster who robbed the place.
The following day, the team tried to identify the new character, who Barry was not fast enough to catch. Caitlin also shared that she happened to share some information with a colleague, Eliza Harmon (Allison Paige), while developing Velocity-9. The team concluded that Harmon is the female speedster, working via V9.
Later, Harmon entered S.T.A.R. Labs and locked Barry up. She asked Caitlin for more V9 while holding Jesse hostage. Caitlin managed to slip microtrackers in the mix so they can follow her location. Barry later caught up with Harmon and tried to discourage her from taking more V9. Harmon, however, did not heed his advice and took another round, turning lightning blue before deteriorating into dust.
Jesse, almost died from a blast of pure V9. However, she was concerned of how much her father would risk his own life to protect her. She left a recorded message informing him that she will leave for Opal City, and that he should not go after her.
The group then opined that Zoom (Tony Todd), who also has a lightning blue shade, may also have had too much V9 or may be dying. A few moments later, Zoom emerged. The team found out that Jay was Zoom all along.
The next episode of “The Flash” will air on Mar. 29 on The CW.
