Floyd Mayweather Ex Josie Harries Recalls How The Undefeated Fighter Physically Abused Her
Josie Harris, Floyd Mayweather Jr.'s former long-time partner and mother to their children Koraun, Iyanna, and Jorah, tells her story of domestic abuse involving the undefeated American boxer. Harris is reportedly due to release a book in 2015 in hope to inspire other women who had also been victims of domestic abuse.
"I was a battered woman," Harris said in an exclusive interview with Martin Rogers of USA Today. Harris said that telling everyone that she was a battered woman made her feel humiliation and embarrassment. She added that at one point, she felt like it was her fault.
Harris recalled that she had very little understanding what a battered woman was like at that time. "Now I know I was in a very dysfunctional, hostile relationship, and a victim of domestic violence," Harris added.
Harris revealed that Mayweather physically abused her on six occasions. She recalled that the extreme case of physical abuse took place in September 2010. She said that Mayweather came home while she was sleeping and suddenly pulled him her to the floor before punching and kicking her. She said that Mayweather also screamed profane words at her. Harris and Mayweather's eldest son Koraun was reportedly the one who alerted the security guard to call the police. After the incident, Mayweather was sentenced three months of jail time.
According to USA Today, Mayweather has a total of seven alleged assaults. Harris' case was just one of them. In October, Mayweather's former fiancée Shantel Jackson has also filed a domestic abuse case against the five-division world champion.
For Harris, instead of feeling bad for having suffered domestic violence, she has decided to write a book, which is due to be release in 2015. She hopes to inspire other women who had been in the same situation as she was. She added that she hopes Mayweather would seek professional help.
Harris was in a relationship with Mayweather for 15 on and off years. They separated in May 2010.
In June, Harris announced that she was married on Instagram. However, the identity of the man was not revealed. Harris posted a picture of her with her new man holding a sign that says "just married." Baller Life reported that the man was believed to be Nelly, who works as a celebrity barber.
