Former Duchess of York, Sarah Ferguson not invited to the Royal Wedding
Sarah Ferguson not attending the Royal Wedding, said her spokesman.
The former Duchess of York, Sarah Ferguson has remained left out of the list of the prominent guests in the much awaited Royal Wedding between Kate Middleton and Prince William in April. The spokesman for the former Duchess of York stated that she is not attending attend the ceremony at Westminster Abbey since she will be going to another country.
“She will not be attending the wedding,” confirmed by the spokesman for former wife of the Duke of York, according to The Telegraph.
“She never expected to be invited or to attend. She will be overseas at the time,” the spokesman added.
It was however reported earlier that Prince William wanted to send formal invitation to Sarah Ferguson.
But the decision to invite the former Duchess of York is not Prince William’s alone. He has to consider the thoughts on the matter by other members of the Royal Family.
The representative for Fergie also denied reports that she will serve as commentator for some big television networks during the wedding. It was confirmed however, that Ferguson has been offered with lucrative fees to share her thoughts on the upcoming Royal wedding.
“She won’t be involved in any commercial work in any way surrounding the wedding. She has declined all offers,” the spokesman said.
“Fergie” as she is popularly known, had been a close friend of Princess Diana's until they had a fall out shortly before her tragic accident.
The former Duchess had been in the media spotlight last year when she was video documented by an undercover reporter, accepting £500,000 in exchange for an open access to her former husband. The reporter tricked the Duchess by pretending to be an Indian businessman.
But before that was a picture taken of Fergie in an even more unlordly position. According to The Telegraph, a photo of the former Duchess of York was taken with her former financial adviser, John Bryan, sucking her toes following her separation from Prince Andrew in 1992. This had brought media frenzy and great embarrassment to the Royal Family and this has expectedly resulted in the Royal family’s declaration of persona-non grata on the former Duchess.
Her daughters, Beatrice and Eugene, however, have kept warm relationships with Prince William and they have been included in the list of prominent guests and they will be expected to attend the Royal Wedding.
