Freddie Roach, the renowned trainer of Manny Pacquiao, is confident that the Filipino welterweight champion has the advantage over Floyd Mayweather Jr. if the fight happens in 2015. The highly-anticipated but never-finalised Mayweather vs. Pacquiao super fight has been hotly discussed the past few weeks and Roach is wasting no time in planting seeds of doubt on the mind of the undefeated American.

Roach, in one of his lengthiest interviews since Pacquiao’s convincing win over Chris Algieri in Macau, talked to Victor M. Salazar Jr., an editor/writer for thaboxingvoice.com, a highly-respected boxing website.

“I’ve had my game plan for a while now. Manny’s legs were really good in the fight and Floyd’s weren’t in his last fight,” Roach stated when asked of his ward’s chances against the undefeated Mayweather. “3 years ago it’s 50-50. I think now we have the advantage because Floyd’s a little shot.”

The words out of Roach’s mouth could be interpreted as just one way of goading Mayweather to finally to agree to the fight every sports fan is demanding. In the past, Roach has called out Mayweather many times for running away from the Pacquiao fight but in this particular interview, Roach was more analytic saying that the undefeated American is “not scared” but just “a little worried about the style and the southpaw stance” of Pacquiao.

Roach admitted that they are using a different tactic this time around in trying to convince Mayweather; rather than being the nice guy, they’ll turn into the aggressors in provoking Mayweather. For his part, the American has yet to formally respond to Pacquiao’s advances— except the one time when he posted across his social media accounts of the video of Juan Manuel Marquez’s knockout of Pacquiao in 2012.

According to multiple reports, Leslie Moonves, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the CBS Corporation and Bob Arum, founder and president of Top Rank Promotions, have discussed the possibility of the fight. If indeed the Mayweather vs. Pacquiao happens, it appears Roach is ready to play some more mind games.
