New Year 2013 will begin with a bang for all users of Android and iOS as they all wait for the upcoming new releases in May and March, respectively. Android will likely release the new version of its open-source OS platform called Key Lime Pie and iOS is rumored to have a new iPad device.

The Android 5.0 Key Lime Pie is assumed to hit in mid-May with LG as one the first to get a hold of the new OS firmware. LG Optimus G2 is the speculated flagship smartphone to go up against Samsung Galaxy S4 but instead the rumour is that that the Optimus G2 will possible compete with Samsung Galaxy Note 2 which is a popular Android-powered phablet with HD 5.5 inches of screen display and high praised performance and battery life.

According to the Korean publication Asiae, LG Optimus G2 will pack 5.5 inches of screen display with HD resolution of 1920x1080 pixels. And it is one of first to run Android 5.0 Key Lime Pie. Optimus G2 is rumoured to equip Snapdragon S4 Prime from Qualcomm with 4-core processors clocked at 2GHz.

Meanwhile, iOS will unveil something earlier than its opponent.

According to Japanese blog Macotakara, the next iPad is soon to be revealed in March 2013. The new iPad is speculated to boast a thinner and lighter profile with a height reduction of 4mm, 17mm in width, and 2mm in depth.

The 5th Generation iPad will come in combined elements, black/slate or white/silver colour schemes. No specifications yet have leaked out about the performance and battery life of the expected new iPad in 2013.
