Samsung is said to announce its next flagship smartphone with a QHD display in February 2014 at the Mobile World Congress. The rumour mill about the Samsung Galaxy S5 has started churning a few months ago; and now, as the release date approaches, rumours fly around on almost a daily basis.

The smartphone is suggested to pack a high-resolution display and it is expected to come earlier than its previously rumoured release date in March or April 2014. It is expected to replace the current Samsung flagship smartphone, the Galaxy S4. The Galaxy S5 is rumoured to sport an impressive 64-bit processor, which could be the Exynos variety, a plastic design, and a 16MP sensor camera with ISOCELL technology which is good in taking photos in low-light settings.

At this point, nothing is official yet and we only expect an official announcement on the day Samsung unveils its flagship smartphone, but that does not mean that rumours either stop or do not have a hint of truth to it. As a matter of fact, another report from ZDNet Asia claims that Samsung will sport a clearer 2560 x 1440 resolution display at the MWC in Barcelona next year at the end of February.

Furthermore, the report says that the Samsung is currently structuring Tizen OS and Iris verification capability on its devices, which could possibly come with the Galaxy S5 replacing the fingerprint reader feature.

Previously, Samsung has steered clear from conferences and trade shows when it comes to launching its devices. In fact, the Korean tech giant is known to launch its Galaxy S series at its own events. The Galaxy S4 was launched at the Radio Music City Hall last April; however, Samsung is said to do otherwise and announce the Galaxy S5 on stage at the MWC.

In a nutshell, the common denominator of all the rumours about the Galaxy S5 that float around is that it will come in the first quarter of the 2014. A few weeks from now, according to Gotta Be Mobile, we might start to see the prospective release dates to settle on a specific month.
