Gambit may have found its leading lady. It has been reported that “Blue is the Warmest Colour” actress Lea Seydoux has been offered to play the role Belladonna Boudreaux aka Bella.

Deadline has reported that three actresses including Seydoux, Abbey Lee and Rebecca Ferguson were suppose to screen test for the role. But Seydoux was finalized after Ferguson dropped out to feature in “The Girl on the Train.”

Seydoux was nominated for BAFTA Rising Star Award in 2014. She has starred in films like “Grand Budapest Hotel,” “The Beauty and the Beast” and “Saint Laurent.” She will be next seen as Bond girl Madeleine Swann in the upcoming James Bond film “Spectre” which is up for Nov. 6, 2015 release.

The actress is yet to confirm her role opposite Channing Tatum in “Gambit.” In the comics, the character of Bella is born as Narda Ravanna. She takes the identity of Bella to take revenge on fashion designer Roderick Kingsley. She also becomes head of Assassins Guild. She is a childhood friend of Gambit and later marries him.

It has yet to be known how will Bella factor in “Gambit”, which is an origin story. Tatum who plays Gambit in the film had previously told The Hollywood Reporter that though the film will showcase the comic book origins of the character, it will be different from other superhero films.

"None of us were sure how he was going to deal with the X-Men world. But we're going to be changing some of the tropes of these movies. It's always about saving the world (laughs), but maybe we're going to shift things a little bit,” he said.

Rupert Wyatt is directing “Gambit” from the screenplay by Josh Zetumer based on the characters created by Chris Claremont. Tatum, Simon Kinberg and Reid Carolin are the producers. The film opens Oct.7, 2016.
