Mars: War logs is a science fiction, third person action role playing game where the player assumes the role of "Roy Temperance" living in post modern mars where water scarce resource that the big corporations are fighting over. The game salls under the "cyberpunk" category which means a world where there is a bit of breakdown of social order, artificial Intelligence and cybernetics et al.

Developed by Spiders Studios and published by Focus Home Interactive, it is available in all three formats of Xbox, Play Station and PC.

The player can choose to specialize in any one of the three attributes - namely stealth, combat or technomancy. Technomancy gives the character the ability to cast spells so players can expect a bit of magic the post modern setting in Mars. Each of the three attributes comes with their own benefits and drawbacks and the player has to sacrifice one for the other every time he/she chooses.

The game contains some really good graphics of alien creatures or monsters of mars. The game provides a number of side quests apart from the main quest to explore the surroundings. There is also a moral element to the game with each decision the player makes having an impact in the game.

The player has an option of not fighting in a given situation but that depends on the player's choices in the conversation in the game with other characters but the conversation tree allows the player an option not to fight.

Although the graphics of the game leave much to be desired it makes up for it with interesting elements like the player can choose his own fighting style with a varied skill set from stealth, combat and technomancy. The player can also craft his/her own weapon using the "craft system" of the game

What is disappointing is that the game does not give the player hours and hours of gaming that some avid game players look forward to but seems to have a relatively quick and abrupt ending , perhaps a little more thought had to be put into ensuring a smooth ending. But the bottom line is a thumbs up for the efforts the developers put in for this game.
