‘Game of Thrones’: 10 Things You Didn’t Know
Enthusiasts probably know a lot about George R.R. Martin's "Game of Thrones," if we base it on the novel and characters alone. But talking about the HBO's top series, there probably are some things that you didn't know.
The season two of "Game of Thrones" ended more than a week ago. Capping it off with such a breathtaking ending, the much-awaited season three is due next year on April. Some fans probably are on the waiting stage and some are still caught up. And for those who think they know everything about the well-acclaimed TV series, here are 10 "Game of Thrones" facts that might surprise you.
-Peter Dinklage was the first choice of author George R.R. Martin and producers to play the role of Tyrion Lannister on the show. They must really like him since they didn't hold an audition for the role.
-Sean Bean was also their first choice to play as Ned Stark. They did however hold auditions just in case Bean rejected the offer.
-Lena Headey and Peter Dinklage were friends even before the show. When Dinklage was talking with the producers of the show, he suggested Headey for the role of Cersei Lannister.
-Many of the actors have not read the novel. They have a fear of finding out what will happen to their character which might affect their acting.
-The author of the novel George R.R. Martin has revealed how he plans to end the series. He told this to producers D.B. Weiss and David Benioff in the event he dies before he finishes writing.
-Emilia Clarke was not the first choice to play Daenerys Targaryen. It was given to actress Tamzin Merchant which eventually decided to leave the show before it even started.
-A linguistic expert David Peterson created the Dothraki language for the series. It consists of over 3,000 words.
-Jason Momoa or Khal Drogo performed the Haka dance for his audition. Watch the video below.
-George R.R. Martine sent Jack Gleeson, the actor who plays Joffrey Baratheon , a letter saying, "Congratulations on your marvelous performance. Everyone hates you."
-Alfie Allen who plays Theon Greyjoy is Lily Allen's younger brother. Her song "Alfie" is about him.
