'Game of Thrones' actor who served Arya on show opens bakery
“Game of Thrones” actor Ben Hawkey (Hot Pie) has opened a real-life bakery in the UK. The actor partnered exclusively with British online food delivery company Deliveroo to prepare dishes on the tables of his clients across the country.
Fans of the HBO TV series may remember Hot Pie as the boy who served Arya Stark (Maisie Williams) at a tavern who gave her the news about her brother in the North. The actor is calling his real-world bakery “You Know Nothing John Dough.”
The bakery will sell loaves made of wholewheat and cornbread with orange zest. The “Direwolf Loaf” will be sold for £1 (about AU$1.64) each. Inspired by Hot Pie’s fascination with Direwolves, the loafs by the bakery are shaped like these animals.
Deliveroo also has a presence in Australia, but it is unclear if the company intends to distribute dishes from You Know Nothing John Dough down under. The bakery is based in London and is only using the delivery system to reach customers. If business picks up, Hawkey may consider opening a branch in the country.
“Hot Pie’s Direwolf loaves are a favorite for ‘Game of Thrones’ fans, and people are always asking me for the secret of my recipe,” Hawkey said, High Snobiety reports. “I can’t share that, but Deliveroo customers will have the chance to try them themselves. You don’t even need to take a dangerous walk down the King’s Road to visit, it comes to you.”
You Know Nothing John Dough isn’t accepting orders right now. The bakery and Deliveroo are yet to announce when exactly the company starts operations. There is no physical location listed for the bakery, so it appears that the current plan is to stay digital.
