Game Of Thrones, Season 5, Episode 2 Has Major Deviations From The Plot But Fans Aren’t Complaining
Fans have been eagerly waiting how HBO would navigate itself through the maze of Game of Thrones characters. The epic saga by George R. R. Martin had convoluted sub plots which made the narrative exhaustive. The deviation from the book has streamlined the story to a large extent.
The House of Black and White has made the fans running back to the books to check the facts. There are many changes which make the characters appear more menacing. One of the most awaited scenes of had ultimately Jon Snow becoming the Lord Commander of the Night watch. But there was no political cunning and lies by Sam Tarly, only speech making pushing Jon as the candidate and Maestor Aemon casting the vote to break the tie. Another surprising twist is Jaime going to Dorne to bring his and Cersei’s daughter Myrcella back. In the book Jaime is busy with the war in Riverlands and Cersei sends a Kingsguard on the mission. Ellaria Sand, the lover of Oberyn Martell has undergone a radical personality change with an emotional speech against vengeance. Ellaria’s dialogue “Let me send her to Cersei, one finger at a time” is turned around to, “is that how it goes, round and round forever?”
There are other deviations like Arya meeting the skull and eating a worm out of its eye is replaced with Jaqen H’ghar barring her way. The best change for the fans has been that of Sansa Stark who has a more scheming presence along with Littlefinger. She is actually is betrothed to Ramsay Bolton and briefly meet Brienne and Podrick Payne but chooses to go to Winterfell. Another favorite Tyrion Lannister is kidnapped directly from the Meeren brothel by Jorah and sail down to meet Daenerys. Maybe the meeting between Tyrion and Daenerys may happen sooner than the book.
With these numerous plot changes, fans haven‘t been complaining. The Game of Thrones fanatics feel that these changes have been a double treat to understand the convoluted schemes within the Kingdoms.
