'Game of Thrones' season 7 news roundup: Premiere and filming update
Cast member Liam Cunnigham dropped a huge hint on the release date of “Game of Thrones” season 7. The show is expected to return this summer, but the exact air date hasn’t been announced. So, the actor’s words are a good indication about when to expect the show to start. Meanwhile, production of the TV series continues in Canada.
The popular HBO TV series began production a little later than usual this time around, because the producers wanted to film in the winter season, in order to showcase the proper weather conditions on the show. That means the show will not air in April, like it normally does.
Melanie Finn of the Irish Independent asked Liam Cunnigham (Davos) about when the show will return. The actor admitted that he will be disappointing the fans across the globe who were hoping to see the show in April. “It’s July now, I think,” the actor later added, Winter is Coming reports.
HBO has apparently planned something special for the premiere this year, Cunnigham said without giving out any details. He also revealed that production for the final season starts in September.
Meanwhile, production of “Game of Thrones” season 7 continues. According to a report by Calgary Herald, the filming is talking place in Calgary in Canada. Cast member Maisie Williams (Arya Stark) was spotted in the city while taking a break from the filming.
Williams is said to have filmed some scenes with wolves at the set. Animal trainer Andrew Simpson has once again provided his wolves for the show.
While waiting for the show to return, the fans have their own theories about the events to expect. One such theory is that Jaime (Nikolaj Coster-Waldau) will kill Cersei (Lena Headey). Speaking with Huffington Post, Waldau said that the theory is too “obvious” for the show. The HBO TV series is known for its sudden and unexpected deaths. However, if Cersei is to survive this year, then even the cast members at this point wouldn’t know how and if she dies in the future.
Another former cast member who spoke about the show recently is Ian McShane (Brother Ray). He appeared to slam the fans of the show in an interview, Belfast Telegraph reports. For the fans who are obsessed with the show, the actor suggested they take a look at their lifestyle and maybe “get out a little more.”
McShane is not expected to return for “Game of Thrones” season 7, unless there is another shocking comeback. The TV series is now racing towards the end, so the focus will be on the main characters and their storyline.
