'Game of Thrones' season 7 spoilers: New Ironborn character; Aussie actor reportedly cast
Aussie actor Brendan Cowell has reportedly been cast for “Game of Thrones” season 7. The actor is said to have been a part of the filming already, but the news of him being cast has only been reported now. There is no official word about the new role, but he will be playing an Ironborn.
According to a report by Watchers on the Wall, Cowell’s agency resume reveals his role in the TV series to be Harrag the Ironborn. This is a recurring role, and the actor is expected to appear in episodes 3, 4 and 7.
Cowell has been a part of TV shows like “The Borgias,” “Salem’s Lot,” and “Love My Way.” His most recent projects include “Observance,” “Broke” and the mini-series “Brock.”
There are no official details about his new character in the popular HBO show. The report notes that the name Harrag is borrowed from the book series “A song of Ice and Fire” by George R. R. Martin, on which the show is based. In the books, however, the character plays a very small role in the Ironborn storyline.
In “Game of Thrones” season 7, however, Harrag may play an important role. It is still not clear which Ironborn faction the character will be a part of. But, an old character description may give the fans a clue about what to expect from the new role.

A previous casting notice is, which is expected to be for Harrag, reveals the character to be between 35 and 45 of age, a “tough-looking bruiser with the attack skills of a pit bull.” The character may be involved in some action sequences, as the casting required the actor to know how to fight. The character was required to have a neutral and non-posh English accent.
The character description revealed the filming schedule to begin in October. Cowell was previously spotted on the set, but it went unnoticed at that time.
With Cowell appearing in three episodes of the seven this year, the Ironborn storyline will be significant. There is no official release date, but the show is expected to return by June.
There had been a delay in starting the filming this time around, because the producers wanted to wait for the winter weather conditions, to accurately depict the season on the show. Winter has finally arrived in Westeros, and with that the danger of the White Walker invasion in “Game of Thrones” season 7.
