Koei and Nintendo have announced via the official “Hyrule Warriors” website that Link’s eternal rival Ganon is set to become a playable character in the “Hyrule Warriors” game. Ganon joins the huge roster of "Hyrule Warriors," a spin-off title from "The Legend of Zelda" series where players combat thousands of enemies with a single character, similar to Koei's "Dynasty Warrior" games.

Ganon – who has also been called Ganondorf in the past, but in this game he’s just Ganon – will be part of the upcoming “Boss Pack” DLC for “Hyrule Warriors.” This special pack will include two modes: “Boss Challenge” and “Ganon’s Fury.” The Boss Challenge mode will have players taking part in a number of relentless battles against supposedly giant bosses while also unlocking new costumes for Link, Zelda and Lana.

An article from Polygon has also revealed Ganon’s character design for the game, which looks like a giant pig. Screenshots have also shown Ganon to be absolutely humongous compared with the other characters in the game, similar in size to the bosses seen in the Team ICO game “Shadow of the Colossus.”

In the Ganon’s Fury mode, players can take the role of Link’s nemesis Ganon as he unleashes chaos and destruction on the battlefield. This mode will also unlock new costumes for Ganon and Cia, though there’s no confirmation if an epic fight with Link or Princess Zelda will happen in this mode.

Multiple DLC packs are also coming to “Hyrule Warriors” soon: the “Master Quest” pack, the “Twilight Princess” pack and the “Majora’s Mask” pack. These new additions to the game will give players more playable characters in Midna, Tingle and Young Link from the “Majora’s Mask” game. All packs can be purchased individually for set prices; the Boss Pack featuring Ganon is $2.99, while the rest of the DLC can be purchased for $7.99 each.

Fans who want all the DLC for a smaller price can get the “Hero of Hyrule” pack, which is the equivalent of a season pass for other DLC-based games, for the price of $19.99 and save $6.99 in the long run. Fans who purchase this special package will get an exclusive Dark Link costume that can be used right away once purchased. All the “Hyrule Warriors” DLC will be available on March 12.
