Paul Feig is all set to direct the rebooted version of Ghostbusters. The principal photography of the film will began in June 2015 and it will release in 2016. Though there is not much known about the film’s plot, the recent report offered hints about the main casting of the film.

According to Hollywood Reporter, Melissa McCarthy, Kristen Wiig, Leslie Jones, and Kate McKinnon are expected to play the leads. Mellisa is already on the board whereas Kristen, Leslie and Kate are currently in negotiations. Mellisa and Kristen reportedly share a great rapport with Feig as they have worked with him in the film “Bridesmaids,” and their reunion could prove beneficial for fantasy comedy reboot.

Furthermore, the possible names of the characters of main leads have also surfaced online. According to Hitfix Kristen can play the character called Erin, Leslie could play Abby whereas Kate could play Jillion. Screen Rant has also given details about these characters. Erin is reportedly close to getting tenure in Columbia whereas Abby is a pop parapsychologist who is in the search of Ghosts. Jillian on the other hand works in liaison with Abby, to hunt down the ghosts. Mellisa is rumored to play the character called Patty who is an MTA worker and the main ghost in the film, reported Hit Fix.

Besides the four female leads, the report also claims that there are other two key characters in the film. The main villain of the film is called “creepy mechanical genius” and Peter Dinklage is reportedly eyed for the role. Another character is called Martin Heiss who is a “professional supernatural debunker.” It is not known who will play Heiss in the film; however, the buzz is that Sony wants Bill Murray to play the role, reported Screen Rant.

The screenplay of the film has been written by Katie Dippold and Feig and the character descriptions has been written by Dan Aykroyd. The film is currently in the pre-production stage. The “Ghostbusters” reboot has reportedly been in development for a long time. Previously, the director of the original film Ivan Reitman was set to return for the reboot but he bowed out of the project.
