“Girl Meets World” cast will be on board for season 4 says co-creator
“Girl Meets World” has shown its final episode “Girl Meets Goodbye” on Disney Channel but fans are still hopeful that more episodes of the series will come. With fan's enthusiasm for a “Girl Meets World” season 4, what the show only needs is a new home network. The original cast, show co-creator Michael Jacobs believes, will go back on board.
In an interview with the Wrap, the showrunner expressed confidence that everyone will be willing to go back on set. "I believe everyone will be on board. But I have to say, there are practicalities to this. When something is cancelled, that basically releases everyone to make their own decisions," Jacobs said. The cast of “Girl Meets World” seems to have a great bond that the inclination would be to stay together if they could.
In an Instagram post, Rowan Blanchard (Riley) expressed gratitude for creator and showrunner Michael Jacobs. The actress also described Jacobs as the “creator of our world, for bring[ing] us together—by all, I mean us and you.”
She also shared that it is with the cast of “Girl Meets World” that she experienced “mourning and heartbreak and overjoyment and long days that turned into long nights, each and every moment so painstakingly beautiful.”
However, Jacobs admitted that there might be some practicalities to the situation. When a show is cancelled, the cast are released and allowed to pursue new obligations.“But I think the experience of this particular show was such a good experience for this cast and this crew. I think the inclination would be to stay together if we could,” the show co-creator said.
That means it is likely that Rowan Blanchard (Riley), Sabrina Carpenters (Maya), Ben Savage (Cory) and Danielle Fishel (Topanga), among others, will be back to reprise their roles. But Jacobs also stressed that he could not speak for everyone.
Their decision might also be affected by their schedules. Blanchard, for instance, is set to appear on sitcom “The Goldbergs” and upcoming film titled “A Wrinkle in Time.” Fans could only hope that she will still have enough time to do “Girl Meets World” season 4.
Disney Channel has previously shared that the decision to end “Girl Meets World” at season 3 was made after careful consideration of many factors. “While all good stories have an ending, we’re proud to have presented a generation of kids and families with 70+ episodes and especially the heartfelt finale with so many fan-favourite characters from “Boy Meets World,” the network told the Wrap in a statement.
But “Girl Meets World” cancellation on Disney may not be the ultimate fate of the show yet. Jacobs thinks a decision will happen in the next couple of months or sooner. He assured fans that they are certainly having discussions as other platforms have made their presence known.
“I don’t think this thing can go on three or four months without a decision,” he said. It will not take long until fans know if the show will be picked up for more episodes or it would really be the end for it. “Girl Meets World” aired in Australia through Disney Channel.
