‘Girl Meets World’ co-creator Michael Jacobs still finding new home for the series
"Girl Meets World" has been cancelled by Disney Channel last month and yet fans remain hopeful for a fourth season of the show. Co-creator Michael Jacobs as well is optimistic that the show will have a different home network and air more episodes. However, the follow-up series to “Boy Meets World” has not been picked up by any network until this time.
But it seems Jacobs and "Girl Meets World" will not easily give up. Jacobs has assured that he is still trying to find a new home for the series. "I'm making an attempt to find a home for an evolution of the franchise," he said.
The show co-creator has previously admitted that he personally thinks that that the series should not stop at season 3. Jacobs is hoping to tell more stories and get a new start for "Girl Meets World” at a new platform.
For the people behind “Girl Meets World,” the last thing they want is to delay their welcome when they have always been so warmly received. Jacobs assured that his vision for the continuation of the series is a good one.
Jacobs even went back to the time when "Girl Meets World" has been confirmed. He believed that the Internet’s positive reaction when the follow-up series was announced refelected how much the audience loved “Boy Meets World.”
The show co-creator said they were just very grateful for how fans embraced "Girl Meets World" and wanted to sustain the good feelings. “So, we tried to make sure the new show would offer something of value to a new generation young people meeting the world,” he said.
Since the show’s cancellation in Disney, fans have started the Paper Airplanes campaign to save the series. Fans are hoping that Hulu, Netflix or another network will be the saviour of the show, but Netflix will reportedly not pick up “Girl Meets World” for another season.
According to Jacobs, fans have come up with the campaign themselves and he is very grateful for it. He told the Wrap in an interview that the confirmation regarding the show’s renewal may happen sooner rather than later.
"Girl Meets World" has centred on the life of Riley Matthews (Rowan Blanchard), the daughter of original series characters Cory (Ben Savage) and Topanga (Danielle Fishel). The show has followed Riley as she faced the stage of adolescence and met friends along the way. “Girl Meets World” aired in Australia through Disney Channel.
