'Girl Meets World' season 3 spoilers: Uncle Josh to return and help the gang transition into high school

“Girl Meets World” Season 3 will feature Riley (Rowan Blanchard) and her friends’ big transition from middle school to high school.

The next season will delve into the challenges of being freshmen in high school, as well as the existing love triangle between Riley, Maya (Sabrina Carpenter) and Lucas (Peyton Meyer).

Creator and showrunner Michael Jacobs told The Wrap that there will be more stories to tell among the friends in the next stage of their lives. He said that the love triangle will finally be resolved in in Season 3, although it will not be the primary focus. Instead, their love triangle will help answer the bigger issue of how young teenagers perceive relationships.

Uncle Josh (Uriah Shelton) will also return and affect future narratives. Season 3 will feature some complications, with Josh included. They wanted to teach the message that nothing in life is easy, so Josh will be used to further explain the message, as well as add growth and texture to the other characters.

Josh will be the older person whose experiences are constantly being wondered about by younger kids. While the friends enter high school, Josh will enter college. Josh will be helpful to the younger characters in adjusting to their new environment. He will be an important part of Season 3, according to Jacobs.

There will be a bigger shift between Season 2 and Season 3, compared to the transition from the first to second season. Jacobs said that they are trying to provide intriguing and compelling stories without hiding from the truth. High school is a consuming but wonderful step into college and the rest of people’s lives, which is why the episodes should be memorable and helpful.

As for heavier subjects that teenagers deal with like sex and alcohol, Jacobs said that they have to work within the parameters provided by Disney Channel. He said that they will have lovely episodes that will touch on all the same subjects that “Boy Meets World” did.”

Morning Ledger notes that there will be several new characters in Season 3. Some will serve as mentors, while others are expected to give the friends a hard time.

“Girl Meets World” Season 3 will premiere in spring 2016.
