'Girl Meets World': show’s creator says there is more to tell
Disney Channel has officially cancelled “Girl Meets World” after three seasons. Showrunner Michael Jacobs has commented about the show’s cancellation on the network, saying there is more story to tell.
Jacobs has revealed that there is a chance that the show will have a new home network. Therefore, fans can be hopeful that the show will continue.
The “Girl Meets World” creator has shared that they are having discussions with other platforms about the fate of the series. Jacobs also expressed his frustration with the show being cancelled.
“I don’t think ‘Girl should have been cancelled. We signed to do four seasons. I thought we would be able to tell stories through four seasons. That’s the way we set it up,” Jacobs told the Wrap.
As for when the fate of the show will be finalised, Jacobs has assured fans that a decision will happen in the next couple of months if not sooner. “I don’t think this thing can go on three or four months without a decision. I think it will be sooner rather than later,” he said.
According to Perez Hilton, Jacobs is already in talks with Netflix for a potential season 4 revival. “Girl Meets World” on Netflix, however, is not yet officially confirmed.
Meanwhile, Disney Channel has explained that the decision to not pursue a fourth instalment for the show was made after a meticulous consideration of several factors. “While all good stories have an ending, we’re proud to have presented a generation of kids and families with 70+ episodes and especially the heartfelt finale with so many fan-favorite characters from 'Boy Meets World',” Disney Channel told the Wrap in a statement.
The finale episode of “Girl Meets World” in Disney is titled “Girl Meets Goodbye.” It is expected to air in Australia on Jan. 20 on Disney Channel.
