'Glee's' Grant Gustin Auditioned for Finnick Odair in 'The Hunger Games: Catching Fire'
The highly anticipated film sequel to Suzanne Collins post-apocalyptic novel, "Catching Fire" is set for a November 2013 release.
With all the time left on Director Francis Lawrence's hands, completing the cast is of the vital essence. The spot for Plutarch Heavensbee has already been filled out by Philip Seymour Hoffman and now it appears that the spot for Finnick Odair has been taken as well. Did "Glee's" Grant Gustin really nab the highly-esteemed role?
Unparalleled in success, "The Hunger Games" still holds the highest box office hit ranking third place to the likes of "Harry Potter" and "Lord of the Rings". Due to popularity of the first film, almost everyone in Hollywood wants to join in on the film's sequel, "Catching Fire". The most coveted roles in the sequel would be Finnick Odair, Johanna Mason, Annie Cresta and Plutarch Heavensbee.
Just days ago, Philip Seymour Hoffman officially signed on to the sequel as Plutarch Heavensbee which leaves three more coveted spots to be filled out. The role of Johanna Mason has been rumored to be taken by newbie, Jena Malone which leaves the spot of Annie Cresta and Finnick Odair. Yet, it appears as if the spot of District 7's victor is about to be filled out as well.
One "Glee"-ful celebrity tried his luck in auditioning for the role as District 7's Finnick Odair. Best known as Sebastian from the Warblers, Grant Gustin admitted to auditioning for the role.
"I have auditioned for the role," said Gustin in an interview with ET Canada.
The big question now is did Grant Gustin get the highly-coveted role of Finnick Odair? Apparently, Gustin did not.
"I don't think [the producers] know what they're looking for just yet, but yes, I auditioned for the role," continued Grant.
If Grant Gustin doesn't manage to win the epic role, there are still a few A-list celebs worthy of playing Finnick Odair. Taylor Kitsch was included in the list of potential actors but he, himself, stated he was not interested in the role and film. Armie Hammer and Garrett Hedlund are two other actors said to be in the running for the role.
