'The Good Wife' season 7 episode 8 recap: Grace helps Alicia land more business; Eli and Courtney start a romance

Season 7 Episode 8 of “The Good Wife,” titled “Restraint,” aired on Nov. 22. The episode featured Diane Lockhart (Christine Baranski) being compelled to handle a sensitive case involving pro-life and pro-choice advocates, with the objective of keeping an important client. Alicia (Julianna Margulies) and Lucca (Cush Jumbo) have also be doing their best to look for more clients and try to get some from Louis Canning (Michael J. Fox).

In the previous episode, Alicia handled a case about a self-driving car. Alicia also had to move in with her husband, Peter (Chris Noth) again to give the impression that there is no problem with the future first couple.

Episode 8 started with Diane watching a video of a nurse, who discussed preserving fetuses after abortions. Her client plans to sue the group where the nurse works.

Meanwhile, Lucca met with Canning. The latter offered her a position at his firm, but Lucca was not interested. Lucca said that Canning was only interested in getting Alicia. Alicia was at her home office, working with Grace (Mackenzie Vega) as they try to scrounge for more clients. Their business was not in a good financial position at the moment. Later, Grace got in touch with the National Council on Women’s Rights, which was looking for an attorney. Furthermore, she found another big client – the Justice Center. Overall, Grace got four new clients for the firm. They celebrated Grace’s act of saving the business, with the latter saying that her mom owes her $35,800 in commission.

Crouse (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) met with Stacy Groom (Andrea Syglowski), who said that the nurse from the video gave her an abortion. Sarah said that the nurse harvested the baby’s organs but never told her that these would be sold eventually. Diane proceeded to court to sue. However, the judge refused to let them use the video, since they did not have permission to record in the first place. Diane and the judge clashed in the courtroom. She eventually informed her client that she has to withdraw since she would only cause more damage to the case.

Meanwhile, Eli (Alan Cumming) was trying to flirt with Courtney Paige (Vanessa Williams) in her office late at night. The two kissed for the first time.

“The Good Wife” airs every Sunday on CBS. Episode 9, titled “Discovery,” airs on Nov. 29 at 9 p.m. ET.
