‘The Good Wife’ Season 7 Spoilers: Mrs. Gilmore set to meet Alicia Florrick
“The Good Wife” Season 7 Episode 8 (“Restraint”) is a treat for fans of “Gilmore Girls.” Mrs. Gilmore (Kelly Bishop) and Mrs. Florrick (Julianna Margulies) are about to engage in serious business soon.
Spoiler alert: This update contains “The Good Wife” Season 7 spoilers. Read on at your own risk if you have not watched the latest episodes.
Fans of The CW’s “Gilmore Girls” who did not see the Nov. 22 episode of “The Good Wife” should head over to the CBS website for streaming. Kelly Bishop, who played the Gilmore matriarch in the soon-to-be-rebooted series, is pro-choice Bea Wilson. She is a Lockhart-Agos client, who is switching to the Florrick-Quinn camp over a disagreement with Diane Lockhart (Christine Baranski).
Bishop is joining another “Gilmore Girls” alum, Matt Czuchry. In a brief moment, both Czuchry (as Cary Agos) and Bishop (as Bea Wilson) are in one scene in “The Good Wife” Season 7 Episode 8. They do not exchange lines. Still, it is almost like a scene from the “future” of Emily Gilmore and Logan Huntzberger.
Meanwhile, Lauren Graham has virtually cemented the news that “Gilmore Girls” will see a reboot on Netflix. TV Line broke the news a month ago. Graham took to Twitter to announce she can’t deny the update. (See Graham’s tweet below.) Graham played Bishop’s daughter Lorelei in the series.
To sum up Bea Wilson’s role in “The Good Wife” Season 7 Episode 8: She believes Lockhart signed up for a pro-life case to participate in “an orchestrated, right wing war on women. For her part, Lockhart convinced herself she was merely upholding the First Amendment. This is reason enough for Wilson to seek a new firm.
More on “The Good Wife” Season 7 Episode 8: Grace Florrick (Makenzie Vega) is on cold calls duty, looking for clients for her mom’s firm. She gets half of one percent for each client she brings in. She then reaches out to the National Council on Women’s Rights, Bea Wilson’s organisation. The two speak, and it seems a bond was sealed smoothly. Grace gets two more companies. So at the end of the episode she asks her mom, Mrs. Florrick: How would she receive her commission worth $35,200 – cash or check?
Incidentally, Grace was about the same age as Rory Gilmore (Alexis Bledel) when “Gilmore Girls” was still running fresh episodes. The series ended in 2007.
Avid viewers of “The Good Wife” and “Gilmore Girls” would recall that they once heard Mrs. Gilmore’s voice as Mrs. Kent in 2010. IMDB records show that Bishop was uncredited, but she was in Season 2 Episode 5, titled “VIP Treatment” (the one with a Nobel Prize in a sexual assault case).
“The Good Wife” Season 7 returns to CBS on Nov. 29 with “Discovery.” The next episode centres on Alicia’s budding friendship with Jeffrey Dean Morgan (Jason Crouse).
