Snapchat's first advertisment is Universal Pictures' Horror film Ouija's Teaser Snapchat

Google recently confirmed that the movie "Ouija" made Ouija boards among the top trending gifts this holiday season, leaving the Catholic priests bothered. A Catholic priest warns people against buying the seemingly entertaining boards as Christmas gifts as they can lead to all kinds of spiritual dangers.

The horror classic, "The Exorcist" could become a true-to-life story if people would buy Ouija boards for Christmas, warns an anonymous Catholic priest. The unnamed Catholic priest told the Independent: "It's easy to open up evil spirits but it's very hard to get rid of them." Those who would buy the boards may run the risk of getting chased on by evil spirits and they would probably need an exorcist to help them to cast these unwanted elements out.

"People, especially young people and teenagers who are likely to experiment with Ouija boards on a whim, can be very naive in thinking that they are only contacting the departed souls of loved-ones when they attempt to communicate with the dead using the boards," the priest added. Unbeknownst to these young people and teenagers, they can be going down a dangerous path. The priest cautions that as we live in a spiritual realm, an innocent act such as playing with an Ouija board could lead to some uncontrollable spiritual consequences.

The priest event said that demons can imitate or pose as a deceased loved ones of the Ouija board users and then possess them easily. The priest's claims are backed by paranormal investigator, Darren Ansell. According to the paranormal expert, he would never attempt to play around with an Ouija board anymore because of his previous scary experiences with it.

Despite the scary implications of playing with these boards, some are still buying them with gusto. The boards, which are designed to contact spirits, have become widely popular after the top-grossing "Ouija" film hit the theaters. Google even predicted that it would be one of the top-selling items on the recently concluded Black Friday Sale of 2014 and an analysis of the search trends for the past days had the tech giant claiming that it would be one of the best selling gift items this season.
