Google to Unveil Nexus 4, Nexus 10 Tablet With Android 4.2 OS
LG will produce a smartphone, while Samsung will make a high-end tablet. Also to debut will be an upgraded version of the Nexus 7, indicating the rash of tech firms to roll out new devices.
The search giant is set to debut the latest version of its Android operating system, known as the Android 4.2 at an event scheduled for October 29 in New York. Rather than the rumoured Key Lime Pie, it will be known as Android 4.2+, or an updated version of Jelly Bean.
Google will be showing off the first devices to run on Android 4.2 including a high-end tablet, the Nexus 10 from Samsung Electronics and LG Electronics' first Nexus phone, the Nexus 4.
Since Samsung will be handling the next Nexus tablet and LG is for the smartphone, what is the difference between the two South Korean tech companies with their tablet creations?
LG Optimus Pad
The LG Optimus Pad boasts of 8.9 inches of screen size with 768x1280 display resolution (168ppi) and is multitouch capacitive.
This tablet has a dimension of 245x151.4x9.3 mm and weighs 497g. It has two stereo speakers with 3.5mm jack for headset connection.
The LG Optimus Pad supports micro-SIM, GPRS, EDGE, and HSDPA networks aside from Wi-FI, DLNA, Hotspot and Bluetooth capabilities.
Samsung Galaxy Tab 8.9 4G
This 8.9-inch tablet with 800x1280 display resolution (170ppi) and TouchWiz UX UI has a dimension of 157.8x230.9x8.6mm and weighs 458lbs.
Unlike most of its Galaxy counterparts, this tablet has no Corning Gorilla Glass design, and thus, may require scratch resistant screen protectors. It has alert ringtones, stereo speakers, and 3.5mm jack plug as well.
