'Gotham' Season 2, Episode 3 Spoilers: Jim Gordon Hunts Down The Joker

In next week’s episode of “Gotham,” titled “The Last Laugh,” Detective Jim Gordon (Ben McKenzie) is on a mission. He needs to find Jerome Valeska (Cameron Monaghan) a.k.a. the Joker, and avenge the death of Commissioner Sarah Essen. [Warning: Spoiler Alert]

In a new trailer for Season 2, Episode 3 of “Gotham,” Gordon is seen interrogating someone with his newly-reinstated partner, Harvey Bullock (Donal Logue). The pair are asking about any information on Valeska, an escaped inmate from the Arkham Asylum. [scroll down for video]

In Episode 2, Valeska and his group of other escaped lunatics have nicknamed themselves the Maniax. Gordon’s ex-fiance, Barbara Keane (Erin Richards), is part of the group. Things became even more personal when a well-planned attack on the Gotham City Police Department resulted in the deaths of numerous cops, including Commissioner Essen.

Essen has become a close friend, confidant and mentor to Gordon, and her death came as a big blow. After enduring all sorts of mayhem in the first season, Gordon has slowly become a hardened cop. He is a long way from the bright-eyed rookie that was seen at the start of the series.

The trailer gives emphasis to Gordon’s new personality, when he is shown hitting the man in the face, while attempting to squeeze out information. After failing to get more valuable details, Gordon tells the guy to spread the word that he is on a hunt for Valeska and his gang. He and Bulock then proceed to rough the guy up even more by throwing him out a window.

As previously reported, Gordon would not have to wait long before coming face to face with Valeska once again. The Episode 3 synopsis states that the two of them will be having a standoff in the upcoming episode.

“Gotham” Episode 3 airs on Monday, Oct. 5, at 8:00 pm EDT on FOX.
