'Gotham' season 3 spoilers: Mid-season return teases THAT creepy laugh; what the resurrected Joker looks like in new trailer for 'Ghosts'
Joker's new face is revealed on 'Ghosts'
The midseason of “Gotham” is set to return soon with the episode titled “Ghosts.” The next storyline hinted the resurrection of Jerome Valeska/The Joker (Cameron Monaghan), after he was killed in Season 2.
“Gotham” fans eagerly anticipated the return of Jerome after it became clear that the character will be brought back after his initial demise. In the previous “Gotham” trailer, Jerome appeared on a screen with a bloodied face. He was laughing hysterically to the cheers of his advocates and then said that sanity is just a prison in people’s minds. He urged his followers to be free. James Gordon (Ben MacKenzie) and Harvey Bullock (Donal Logue) watched as Jerome comes back to haunt Gotham City once again.
In the new trailer of “Gotham” Season 3 Episode 12, Jerome was shown with a brand new look. His forehead had huge stitches and he had circles around his eyes, as if he was put together by a mad scientist to return to life. He cackled while saying that Gotham has no heroes, only darkness. He would also like to share hell with everyone. A number of characters and action scenes followed, such as Penguin (Robin Lord Taylor), Leslie Thompkins (Morena Baccarin) and Catwoman (Camren Bicondova).
Jerome has been absent from “Gotham” for an entire season, after he was allegedly killed by Theo Galavan (James Frain), Cinema Blend points out . However, his presence remained in the next several episodes, as he gained a cult following. He left a message of anarchy, which affected Jeri (Lori Petty), who operates a nightclub dedicated to The Maniax, an evil group that involves Jerome. Her club patrons obey her commands, with the intention of executing Jerome’s orders.
Executive producer John Stephens told TVGuide that Jerome will be more evil and psychotic when he returns. Jerome is expected to have a huge impact on the “Gotham” storyline in the following episodes. In the meantime, Bruce Wayne (David Mazouz) is gradually turning into the superhero that he was destined to be. He may soon have an encounter with Jerome, which will bring him closer to becoming Batman.
The “Gotham” midseason premiere will launch on Jan. 16, 2017 on Fox. More updates and details are expected soon.
