Grammy’s Confirmed Jennifer Hudson for a Whitney Houston Tribute
The 54th Grammy Awards confirmed Jennifer Hudson to perform the Whitney Houston tribute at tonight's show. Jennifer has referred to the late legendary singer as her "idol".
The academy has decided to make last minute changes of the show's line up after the 48-year-old singer was found dead on a Saturday afternoon in her room at the Beverly Hilton Hotel. Houston was supposed to be in attendance at the Clive Davis's annual pre Grammy party the night of her death. It's still unresolved as to what might have caused her sudden passing.
"A light has been dimmed in our music community today, and we extend our deepest condolences to her family, friends, fans and all who have been touched by her beautiful voice," said Neil Portnow, CEO of The Recording Academy.
Houston was an important part in Hudson's musical success when she then presented Jennifer her first Grammy in 2008 for winning "Best R&B Album" for her self titled album "Jennifer Hudson".
Apart from the additional tribute to the legend that is Whitney Houston, the rest of the plans are to follow during the awards night. Other performances will include Alicia Keys and Bonnie Raitt's tribute to Etta James, a duet between Rihanna and Coldplay, Tony Bennett and Carrie Underwood, Katy Perry's performance and Adele's much anticipated comeback on stage.
