'Grand Theft Auto V' Online Heists Update Also Adds PVP Modes And New Missions
When “Grand Theft Auto” developers Rockstar Games announced the release date for the long awaited online heists, the company promised to have more in stored for fans aside from that new feature. Now, courtesy of the Rockstar Newswire, those details have been revealed.
Three new gameplay elements will be implemented once the “Grand Theft Auto Online” update comes next week. These elements are new player versus player modes, a good amount of daily objectives and some free-roaming missions. All of these new features will be available next week along with the much-touted online heists according to Gamespot.
The new daily objectives of game can be fruitful for many online players. Apparently, doing a good number of these challenges in a day can net the player over $500,000 of in-game currency. These activities can be done anytime, whether a player is doing a job or free-roaming for fun.
Fans who miss the lead characters in the game will be able to do missions for them in the new free-roaming activities. These can range from destroying vehicles for Lamar and distracting the Police so Lester’s criminal colleagues can escape safe and sound with what they’ve stolen.
Regarding the new player vs player modes, they will become available once users progress through some of the online heists. All of the modes have different winning conditions and different mission structures, so fans won’t have to worry about the game feeling repetitive or tiring. The new modes are called “Come Out To Play,” “Siege Mentality” and the “Terminator” inspired “Hasta La Vista.”
The first mode, “Come Out to Play,” will have a team of three runners running away from a team of hunters who are chasing them. While the hunters will have unlimited lives, they will be limited to using sawed off shotguns. Runners on the other hand, can use whatever weapons they like, but will only have one life to spare.
“Siege Mentality” will have a team of four players outnumbered by a team of six attackers. Similarly to “Come Out to Play,” the four players will have only one life, but full use of their weapons, while the six hunters have unlimited lives, but are only able to use shotguns against the team of four.
Finally, “Hasta La Vista” will center on a team of cyclists trying to escape a team of truckers. The cyclists must make it to the checkpoint, without getting killed by the truckers. If one cyclist manages to reach that checkpoint, the team of cyclists wins the game. If the truckers manage to kill all the cyclists, their team wins the game.
“Grand Theft Auto V” is currently available for PS4, PS3, Xbox One and Xbox 360. The big “GTA” update with the online heists comes out next week for console gamers and will automatically be available to PC gamers, when the PC version comes out on April 14.
