Gray Maynard Signs New Deal, Returns To Octagon February Or March
Apparently, there is no truth to the rumour that Gray Maynard is taking a break on wrestling as he was reportedly signing a new deal with the UFC. Maynard has recently appeared on a wrestling match on Sunday at Madison Square Garden, where he competed against WSOF's Ozzy Dugulubgov at the Garden event and went home victorious with a 14-3 to brag.
Earlier weeks to that event, Maynard has been reported to compete in a three-minute match with Dennis Bermudez at Albany, New York. In other words, Maynard has been busy wrestling all along. This is a part of his preparation for UFC's next chapter. It should be noted that Gray has last fought at UFC Fight Night 47 on August, and now up to signing a new deal with the UFC.
Maynard's new inked deal with MMA surprised everyone considering that he is not the kind of guy whom MMA could chose if we take into consideration the fighter's last five losses, especially highlighting the last one against Ross Pearson in Bangor, Maine. It was pretty well noted how Maynard suffered with Pearson's barrage of punches during the second round of that game. Some were expecting the 35-year old who is considered by many people as the "Bully", to walk away from the game.
Thus far, Gray Maynard is going to fight and there is no turning back. According to Maynard, the contract is already a done deal and he has talked to UFC president Dana White about it. He has to go through all the MRIs and he should be checked from head to toe in order to make sure he's fit to fight. Definitely, MMA Fighting just wants to make sure that Maynard gets the necessary medical check-up he needs before the fight.
Gray Maynard is eyeing to return on February or March, which exactly the reason why he's been warming up by doing these wrestlings prior to the ultimate fight. Wrestling days are always tough but Maynard admitted that he needs to do it to prepare for his return.
