‘Grey’s Anatomy’ Season 13: Jo Wilson, Alex Karev deserve more screen time [Spoilers, Review]
“Grey’s Anatomy” Season 13 premieres this fall on its home U.S. network, ABC. When the series returns, fans hope to see more of Jo Wilson (Camilla Luddington) and Alex Karev (Justin Chambers) to find out what happens next to the charming but troubled couple.
Spoiler alert: This review contains “Grey’s Anatomy” Season 12 spoilers. The previous season ended with some big revelations on why Wilson could not say yes to Karev’s wedding proposal.
Karev first proposed to Wilson in the middle of the tenth season of “Grey’s Anatomy,” in the same episode where Jackson Avery (Jesse Williams) stopped April Kepner (Sarah Drew) from marrying Matthew (Justin Bruening). Back then, Wilson was not keen about getting married, saying she simply wasn’t ready. Years later, the real reason has been revealed.
Justin Chambers is a brilliant actor who always delivers the vast scope of Karev’s emotions, whether he is being impulsive, compassionate or frustrated. In the “Grey’s Anatomy” Season 12 finale, Camilla Luddington shows she is the right match for the actor. As Karev and Wilson, the two are as adorable as they are messed up. There is balance in their chaos, which means they are bound to sort out their issues. Probably.
Jo Wilson is married; Karev does not even know her real name!
Fans learned in May that Jo Wilson is actually married, and she has not been using her real name to stay hidden from her legal husband. Karev doesn’t even know her real name. Her ex is an abusive big bad who may be revealed in “Grey’s Anatomy” Season 13. It would be interesting to see how Karev would confront this villainous character.
First, however, Karev would react to the gravity of the situation. Wilson did not trust him well enough to disclose the previous marriage. He has gone crazy with doubt and frustration, but she did not see him fit to handle her truth.
Hopefully, Karev and Wilson could sort out their issues faster than Avery and Kepner did. Known as Japril (Jackson and April) and Jolex (Jo and Alex) to fans, these couples have been through all sorts of relationship stages. Thanks to their baby-then-divorce-then-baby-again plot line, Japril has enjoyed ample screen time in the recent seasons of “Grey’s Anatomy.” Perhaps the spotlight would be on Jolex from Season 13.
“Grey’s Anatomy” Season 13 premieres on Sept. 22 on ABC. Here is the complete list of the ABC shows' return dates this fall.
