Chyler Leigh has recently spoken again about the death of her character, Lexie Grey, in the popular U.S. drama, "Grey's Anatomy." She gives a hint of the future of Eric Dane (Mark Sloan) in the series.

[Be warned of spoilers from here on.]

It took over two weeks since the May finale of Grey's Season 7 before Leigh issued a statement regarding Little Grey's death. She wrote:

"Earlier this year, I made the decision that season eight would be my last on Grey's Anatomy."

'Mark Sloan' not surprised

Asked to react on the news, the actor playing Little Grey's soulmate said he was not surprise of the exit.

"It's a tough schedule to keep up and she (Chyler)'s been working on the show for five seasons. So I wasn't shocked. A little surprised but not shocked. We're going to miss her," Dane said.

While fans are still grieving Lexie Grey's demise on the series, From Inside the Box released fresh statements from Leigh over the weekend.

Asked about what she hopes for Sloan after Little Grey's death, Leigh said:

"The roller coaster between [Lexie and Mark] was always very dynamic and I think realistic. When it comes to death we never know the date or the hour... There is absolute shock value to that. As far as their relationship, it was in some ways very young. So Rachel and Ross [from the sitcom Friends]. It's so hard to put a pin in what went wrong or how it could have gone better. But will Mark go on? Absolutely. He'll move right along. That's just what Mark Sloan does. But initially I hope there will be a devastation."

Will Eric Dane stay on Grey's?

Leigh may have expressed only her wishes for Sloan, but the spoiler here is that Mark Sloan survives. At least, that is what one can extract from Leigh's statement.

Ultimately, if Eric Dane was not surprised that Chyler Leigh was leaving the show. The latter would know if the former was leaving, too. Considering Leigh's new statements, she sounds confident that Sloan will appear throughout Grey's Anatomy Season 9.

It seems Leigh is envisioning one of the 'Sloan options' presented in this article (Option 3).

As for her future on television, Leigh said she could spend some time doing comedy again.

"I'm always down to do a sitcom. I did 'That 80's Show' back in the day and that was a really great experience. I think comedy would be good for a while," she said.
