‘Halo 5 Guardians’ Forge for Windows 10, Xbox One plans revealed, free play for Xbox Live Gold in July

“Halo 5 Guardians” Forge mode will also debut on Windows 10. New developments, however, have pointed out that it will come with a file browser, which will come to the Windows 10 in time with the Xbox One.

This was announced at RTX 2016, and according to DualShockers, the Windows 10 version will have community tutorials. Thee will specifically be for map creations and specifics on the features for creation using the Forge. The source also spotted some images of the reveal and a video discussion from the panel, as seen in the video below.

Forge will have mouse and keyboard support for the Windows 10 version. There will be pop-up windows for easier navigation, as can be seen in some of the screenshots showcased. Another feature worth noting is the ability to customise the experience for the context browser, either by tacking screenshots or tag data for finding content.

“This is the next version of the file version; it’s super powerful, it’s integrated and kind of across the board. It’s all cloud-driven so you don’t have to wait for someone’s console to be online to get your map. And it’s backed by a super powerful search engine,” said the developer in the video.

“Halo 5 Guardians” Forge for Windows 10 will arrive at the same time for both systems. The developer did hint that it may be shipping sometime in fall this year, but even the creators are not yet sure of the exact date when.

This is a big break from the current practice, wherein “Halo 5 Guardians” players have to visit the official Halo Waypoint website. The new feature is supposed to bring the convenience level a notch higher.

For now, “Halo 5 Guardians” can look forward to the game being available for free until July 5 for Xbox Live Gold members. This is a celebration of the launch of the Warzone Firefight update. Players who already have a copy of the game can still look forward to a reward upon logging in. According to Windows Report, there is a limited time reward, including a Gold REQ pack and some other packs if they engage in and win in the Warzone Firefight mode.
