Harrison Ford reveals clips of ‘Star Wars’ in AMAs [Watch Video]
"Star Wars" fans claimed their treat from Sunday night's American Music Awards (AMAs). Not only did they get to see a new scene from 'The Force Awakens," but it was introduced by Han Solo himself, Harrison Ford.
The 73-year-old actor unveiled a never before seen clip from the upcoming movie before the performance of the a cappella group, Pentatonix, at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles.
"Many of you know composer John Williams' name, but one thing's for sure, all movie fans know his music" said Ford. Scores of different famous films were played after Ford's speech. Some clips and scores were played from "Jaws," "E.T.," "Indiana Jones" and the last was Williams' score for "Star Wars."
"Tonight you're gonna that musical score performed by a full symphony orchestra and the best selling a cappella group, Pentatonix in a way you've never heard before," said Ford signaling the stunning performance of Pentatonix started by the unleashed video.
The five members of Pentatonix, wearing Jedi-appropriate gear, start the performance with Darth Vader's Imperial March before the symphony orchestra joined in with a backdrop of as footage of the film.
The brief clip happened on the desert planet of Jakku and showed an extended look of the scene from the trailer. It showed Finn (John Boyega), Rey, (Daisy Ridley) and BB-8 being attacked by TIE fighters.
The performance, of course, corresponds to the upcoming release of "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" on Dec. 18.
The 84-year-old Williams has more than 150 film scores. Films like "Superman," "Harry Potter" and "Jurassic Park" embedded the artist's scores to name some.
Variety reports that during J.J. Abrams appearance on a fund raising event for Montclair Film Festival, he revealed the completion of "Star Wars" at 2:30 a.m on Saturday.
However, Abrams noted that he left the productions with six very small details, yet important things, that need to be done. Abrams also admits being glad that after three years, the movie will be released.
“The truth is working on this movie for nearly three years, it has been like living with the greatest roommate in history for too long. It’s time for him to get his own place. It’s been great and I can’t tell you how much I want him to get out into the world and meet other people because we know each other really well. But really, ‘Star Wars’ is bigger than all of us. So I’m thrilled beyond words and terrified more than I can say,” said Abrams.
"Star Wars: The Force Awakens" takes 30 years after the downfall of the Galactic Empire where Han Solo and his group will face the threat of Kylo Ren with his band of Stormtroopers.
