Harry Styles solo album received praise from Sony Music CEO

Harry Styles may not have any work outside One Direction currently available for viewing or listening to at this point, but this might all change in the next few days or weeks. The 23-year-old musician and actor has been praised for the work he is putting towards his solo album by none other than Sony Music CEO Rob Stringer.

It is no secret that Harry has been spending most of his time away from One Direction on the set of “Dunkirk,” a World War II film that is set to debut later this year. What he has been a little more reserved about, however, is the actual work he has been doing for a solo album. Harry signed on as an individual act with Sony Music, but very little has been said since the boy band decided to go on a hiatus in 2015.

Nevertheless, Stringer has gone on the record with Billboard Magazine (via Metro UK) and said that there is already a record that is not far away from being ready. “We’re close and we’re very excited,” he said. It is then expected that fans will get a taste of Harry's voice sooner than initially anticipated. The music executive also said that he believes Harry is “here to stay.”

Sony wants Harry’s first solo record to be a beautiful one that will set the musician apart from his former and current band mates, most of whom have already released their own music. Zayn Malik has arguably experienced the most musical success beyond One Direction, while Niall Horan and Louis Tomlinson respectively followed with their singles “This Town” and “Just Hold On.”

“Harry has stepped up with the vision of someone who’s authentic,” Stringer told the publication. It is likely that the musician has chosen to stray away from the original tunes of One Direction and has instead opted to do something unique. The move would be a smart one as it would definitely set him apart from his bandmates and fans would be able to distinguish him from the band in general.

Harry has also finished work on the set of “Dunkirk,” which stars Hollywood veterans Cillian Murphy and Tom Hardy. The film will be released in July.
