How Niall Horan, Louis Tomlinson, Liam Payne and Harry Styles will succeed beyond One Direction

It is no secret that the boys of One Direction are using the time off during their hiatus to score some solo points in the industry. But with a large part of their fan bases still arguably consisting of groups formed during their boy band days, how exactly can Niall Horan, Louis Tomlinson, Liam Payne and Harry Styles experience long term individual success?

The boys have been without new music as a group in over a year, but fans of One Direction have been appeased by their individual work. But with the music industry brimming with artists with their own individual sounds, is there room for four more solo acts? Forbes has claimed that the only way the boys will continue to see success on their own is to differentiate themselves -- which is already evident in their current activities.

Following the departure of Zayn Malik, Niall was the next to release a solo single. “This Town” has the same pop tune found in One Direction’s roster of songs, and it seems to have been working for 23-year-old artist. “This Town” has become a top 10 hit in the United Kingdom and Ireland. It has also reached the top 20 in the United States.

Sticking it with music as well is Louis, who just last month released his own record. In what can be considered a surprising move, the 25-year-old teamed up with Steve Aoki to produce “Just Hold On.” The new song, which showcases a mix of EDM and pop, can arguably battle it out with the current best of dance music. It is comfortable yet different, especially with Aoki performing beside Louis on stage.

Though nothing of his has been released into the airwaves, Liam is likely to release a new record as well. The 23-year-old is currently signed with Capitol Records, and there are some clues as to what genre the One Direction member will slip into. Liam has a history of song writing -- both for his band and other artists. He has also released several remixes of these songs under the name Big Payno. It is possible that the soon-to-be father will stick to music production.

Likewise, Harry Styles also has not released any music as of yet. However, he has already signed a three album deal with Columbia Records, which handled and released the music of One Direction. In addition to music, however, he also has a notable role in the upcoming film, “Dunkirk,” which stars Cillian Murphy and Tom Hardy.

A One Direction reunion, as confirmed by Hollywood Life, is in the books. However, there is no current time table about when this will occur. The much awaited reunion will arrive “when they have done all the stuff they want to do personally,” a source told the publication.
