Hero Police Dog Saves Officer Ambushed By Men
A police dog had rescued his partner who was ambushed by three men in a dark roadside. Sky News reports that the dog has been acknowledged as a hero after attacking his partner’s assailants.
According to reports, the dog bit the attackers who officers say dragged the cop into the woods on a Monday night ambush. Hancock County Deputy Todd Frazier was doing his routine check on a car that was parked in Pearlington, Mississipi, near the state line of Louisiana.
County Sheriff Ricky Adam reported to ABC News that Frazier saw a blue Lincoln Town Car on a deserted route stop. The car driver seemed as if he wasn’t moving, so the three-year veteran Frazier pulled over to see what was going on.
Just then, two individuals came from nowhere and nabbed Frazier. Adam told reporters that one man cut the officer on his forehead with a box cutter, another one choked him and a third assailant grabbed his legs and dragged him into the woods.
In a report from Clarion-Ledger, Chief Deputy Don Bass said that the assailants told Frazier they were going to slit his throat. Authorities also believe that the assailants meant to kill the officer and dump his body.
While being attacked, Frazier managed to activate the button that pops the car door open to release his K-9 partner, Lucas. According to officers, Lucas may have possibly bitten two suspects during the attack. While the count is unsure, Adam said that the Belgian Malinois had blood all over him.
While the K-9 hero was not injured, Frazier was taken to the Hancock Medical Centre to receive treatments. He was released on Tuesday.
It remains unclear if the May 18 attack was connected to recent gang threats targeted towards officers on duty, but Adam said “at this point in time I don’t care”. On Wednesday, a manhunt has been ordered for all three assailants who may have fled to Louisiana with the Town Car, which police described to be a 2000 model.
